These four stone furnaces are part of the largest iron production firm from 1840. The Scranton Iron Furnaces are also available to tour. Once there, you will find two guided tours: the museum tour and the Lackawanna Coal Mine tour. The park is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. You’ll find the Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum and Iron Furnace in McDade Park. Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage Museum and Iron Furnace This museum is also home to the Lackawanna Historical Society. You will also see most of the original furnishings, a research library, exhibit rooms, and lecture rooms. The home was built in 1912 and has three stories, 16 rooms, and features 19th-century décor. One of Scranton’s architectural treasures is the Catlin House. Be sure to check out the vintage trolleys, a 19th-century mill building, interactive displays, a 50-seat theatre, and a hands-on kids exhibit. There are four departures Thursday through Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m. During your visit, make sure you take a ride on the Trolley Excursion. You’ll find it on the grounds of the Steamtown National Historic Site. The Electric City Trolley Museum is open seven days a week.
